DESCRIPTION
Evaporator of volatile substances
The present invention relates to a volatile substance evaporator device comprising an improved system for compensating the ford provided with a microporous membrane.
Background of the invention
The utilization of air porous membranes is well known in the market and applied in products that contain chemical substances. These membranes act as exhaust valves, allowing the exit of gases from the volatile substance stored inside a container and preventing overpressure inside the product container.
The generation of gases by volatile substances basically occurs during storage of the container and as a result of the increase in ambient temperature, and requires the use of a pressure compensation system.
Traditionally, as a pressure compensation system in air fresheners or insecticides that comprise a bottle with wick and fragrance (air freshener or insecticide), a hole has been used that communicates the fragrance contained in the bottle with the outside.
The pressure compensation orifice is useful because the pressure inside the bottle must be balanced with the outside, since otherwise, as a result of the evaporation of the liquid, a negative pressure (in relative terms) would result in the inside of the container, with which the evaporation would slow down, getting to stop.
A serious drawback of using this hole is that an open system is created during the use of the air freshener or insecticide by the user, so that it is likely that fragrance is spilled through the hole, as a result of accidentally overturning the container .
Therefore, the need for a pressure compensation system is evident

tight, so that it does not allow the exit of the liquid, even if the container accidentally tipped over.
Description of the invention
With the volatile substance evaporation device of the invention, the aforementioned drawbacks are resolved, presenting other advantages that will be described below.
The volatile substance evaporator device according to the present invention comprises a container that houses a liquid containing the volatile substances, an outlet through which the volatile substances come out and a hole to equalize the pressure between the inside and outside of the container, and is characterized in that it also comprises a membrane placed between the container and the hole, which is sealed to said liquid and porous to the gases, allowing the exit of said volatile substances and the entry of air.
According to a preferred embodiment, said membrane is microporous and made of polytetrafluoroethylene, although it could also be of any liquid-tight and porous gas-like material in a bi-directional manner, such as polypropylene and microporous polyethylenes.
Advantageously, said membrane is mounted in a housing, which is preferably made of plastic material.
In addition, said hole is preferably defined in a shutter, which closes said container, and said housing is mounted inside said shutter.
Said hole is advantageously closed by a cover before the first use of the device, to prevent the release of volatile substances. Said cover may be a plug or a sheet, which is removed just before the first use of the device according to the present invention.
The use of a porous material membrane as a pressure compensation system generates a closed system, that is, liquid tight. As the membrane allows the entry of air but not the exit of liquid, the use of the membrane solves the two problems that are inherent in the functionality of the system.

On the one hand, it avoids the accidental spillage of liquid, and also solves the problem of pressure balancing inside the container. It allows the entry of air into it and allows the evaporation rate to be kept constant until the end of volatile substances.
It is clear that, by letting the air pass, the membrane will also let the vapors of the volatile substance out of the container. To prevent this phenomenon from interfering with controlled evaporation through the main outlet, the opening surface outside the hole will be kept below 5% of the main evaporation surface (wick).
Brief description of the drawings
To better understand how much has been exposed, some drawings are combined in which, schematically and only by way of non-limiting example, a practical case of realization is represented.
Figure 1 is a perspective view of the evaporation device for volatile substances according to the present invention, in its position prior to the first use;
Figure 2 is a perspective view of the evaporation device for volatile substances according to the present invention, during use; Y
Figure 3 is a sectional view of the central part of the volatile substance evaporation device according to the present invention.
Description of a preferred embodiment
The volatile substance evaporation device according to the present invention comprises a container 1 containing a liquid 8 containing said volatile substances that will evaporate to the environment preferably in a passive manner through an outlet 2 defined in a shutter 3. Preferably, said outlet 2 is provided with a wick 10 so that the evaporation of volatile substances is carried out in the desired manner.

The present invention before its first use, said outlet 2 is closed by a cover 4, such as a sheet, as can be seen in Figure 1, or by any suitable closure element, for example a plug or the like.
In the case of using a sheet, it can be made of aluminum, and can be welded or adhered to the shutter 3 closing the outlet 2. To facilitate the removal of the sheet, it can comprise a tongue 5, as can be seen in the Figure 1.
In addition, the volatile substance evaporation device also comprises a hole 9 to equalize the pressure between the inside and outside of the container, a membrane 6 being placed between the container 1 and the hole 2, said membrane 6 being sealed against said liquid and porous to the gases, allowing the exit of said volatile substances and allowing the entry of air from the outside. This hole 9 will also be closed by said cover 4 before the first use of the evaporation device.
As can be seen in Figure 3, this membrane 6 is preferably mounted in a housing 7, which in turn is placed inside the shutter 3. Both the housing 7 and the shutter 3 are preferably made of plastic material, although they could be of any suitable material.
According to a preferred embodiment, the membrane 6 is made of polytetrafluoroethylene, although it could be of any other suitable material that allows it to be liquid tight but porous to gases in a bidirectional manner.
Porous membrane 6 also has the following technical characteristics:
- The membrane 6 has a resistance to be crossed by water, measured in terms of pressure, greater than 0.3 bar.
- The nominal air flow is at least 0.1 l / h.
- The working temperature range of the membrane 6 is from -40 ° C to 120 ° C.
- The general diameter of the membrane housing is larger than 3 mm in diameter.
The operation of the volatile substance evaporation device according to the present invention is as follows:

When it is desired to use the evaporation device for the first time, the cover 4 will have to be removed, being able to be carried out simply by stretching the tongue 5. The user will then have to introduce the wick in the outlet 2.
When the cover 4 is removed, the volatile substances contained in the Kquido 8 will be allowed out through the outlet 2 by the wick 10. In addition, it will also allow the entry of air into the container 1 through the membrane 6 arranged in the hole 9, to equalize the pressures inside and outside the container 1, thanks to the gas permeability of the membrane 6.
However, the liquid tightness of the evaporation device is guaranteed thanks to the characteristic of the membrane 6, which prevents the passage of the liquid through said membrane 6.
In an alternative embodiment, the cover 4 could only be applied over the hole 9 and not over the outlet 2.
Although the presented system is designed to be a passive system, releasing volatile substances without the action of another element, it is clear that it could also be used with evaporation systems known as heating elements, fans, etc.
Although reference has been made to a specific embodiment of the invention, it is evident to one skilled in the art that the described volatile evaporation device is susceptible to numerous variations and modifications, and that all the mentioned details can be substituted. by other technically equivalent, without departing from the scope of protection defined by the appended claims.
